I am starting a season of posting. I am going to attempt to post daily here for the next sixty days. I haven’t done so to date because I am always wanting everything to be polished and correct and defensible. This won’t be. I’m just going to lay it all out there. I have also hooked this up to my Facebook profile in hopes someone might actually read it. If you do, great – comment – argue – tell me I’m a moron. If you don’t, well, you’re not reading this so I don’t know why we are wasting everyone else’s time talking to you. Cause that’s just silly.
I made a list…
It’s a list of topics I will start the 60 days out with. Stuff that’s on my mind. The general theme is going to be all things related to the Christian Church – especially in America. The reasonfor this vein? I was a vocational pastor for 12 years and plan to pastor again – I’m just trying to figure out what that looks like. The short answer is it looks like nothing I have seen. I have no responsibility for other people’s work and choices, but I am called to fulfill my God-given destiny, and I can’t find an established structure that makes that possible. So we’ll just have to make a new one. I doubt that will mean full-time vocational church work for years to some (if ever), but as Carlos Santana said to his producer before recording “Supernatural”, “I want to connect the molecules with the light.” I am butchering the quote but he meant he wanted to make music again after a long time off. And so do I (in the non-literal, metaphorical sense for all you nit-pickers). So that’s the list and the commitment, here’s a start – the very next posting – titled “American Dream, Church Edition.”
